Detailed information on timing for courses can be found on page 11 of the Instructor Policy Handbook.
(Note: Instructors must allow for the designated number of hours for instruction as well as for breaks and lunch. Courses that will occur over the course of multiple days should not be held more than 2 weeks apart.)
Instructional hours for Adult MHFA In-Person Courses:
- For courses that are completed in 1 day, instruction hours will total 7.5 + lunch and breaks.
- For courses that are completed in 2 days, instruction can be broken up into one 3.5 hour session and one 4 hour session. The instructor may build in breaks at their own discretion.
- For classes that occur over 4 days, the sessions may be broken up into four 2-hour segments, and the instructor can build in breaks at their own
Instructional Hours for Blended Adult MHFA Courses:
- Blended with In-person ILT: 2.5 hours for pre-work, 5.5 hours for live instruction. it is recommended that instructors should allot at least 30 minutes for breaks.
- Blended with Virtual ILT: 2.5 hours of prework and 5.5 hours of live instruction. It is recommended that instructors allot at least 1 hour for breaks.
Instructional Hours for In-Person Youth MHFA Courses:
- One day: One 6.5-hour day
- Two days: One 3.5-hour day and one 3-hour day
- Four days: Four 2-hour days
Instructional Hours for Blended Youth MHFA Courses:
- Blended with in-person ILT: Courses include approximately two hours of pre-work and 4.5 hours ILT content; Instructors should allow an additional 30 minutes for breaks.
- Blended with Virtual ILT: Courses include approximately two hours of pre-work and 4.5 hours ILT content; instructors should allow one additional hour for breaks.
*IMPORTANT: Blended youth courses can only be scheduled for a maximum of two separate sessions.
